Up until 1948 the post of President and Chairman were separate. However the post of Chairman seemed to be elected at each meeting and was not listed as a post in the list of DA officers. Also most Chairman also served as President at one time and so their names appear here and I have decide not to confuse the issue.
After 1948 the two posts were combined and the President was normally the chairman. At the same time the “three-year rule” was applied. This has never been formally written into the Constitution but has been rigidly observed ever since.
N.B. Accreditations of J.P. noted were not necessarily current at the date of their Presidency.
Wessex DA traditionally change Presidents every three years, but our secretaries go on for ever! During our long history we have had an enviable continuity from a very small number of dedicated secretaries.
