THE AREA OF WESSEX CTC

SOUTHAMPTON DISTRICT ASSOCIATION FORMED 9.10.1911: Area 15 miles radius of Southampton.
NAME CHANGED TO SOUTH HANTS DA 22.2.1916 : Area extended to 30 miles radius of Southampton and exclusive of the Isle of Wight.
NAME CHANGED TO WESSEX DA 9.2.1924 : Area extended and became those portions of Dorsetshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Sussex bounded by a line drawn through West Lulworth, Shaftesbury, Amesbury, Andover, Alton, Petworth, and Littlehampton, and the line of the South Coast, and including towns and villages on the boundary line.
REDUCTION OF AREA 10.5.1926 : Eastern section seceded and became Portsmouth D.A. New area as follows: Area bounded by lines drawn through West Lulworth, Shaftesbury, Amesbury, Andover, Alton, Bishops Waltham, Botley, Warsash, and the coast line.
EXTENSION OF AREA 6.9.1926 : The whole of the county of Dorset; that portion of the county of Wiltshire bordered on the West by a line drawn at a radius of 30 miles of Bristol, and on the north by a line running from the radial line along the Devizes-Andover road; and the county of Hampshire south of a line drawn at a radius of 20 miles from Reading and West of the line recently settled as the Western boundary of the Portsmouth D.A.
REDUCTION OF AREA 1975 : Southampton Section split to form Southampton DA (later South Hants DA).
NEW BOUNDARIES  1980 : In line with National CTC policy, DA boundaries become defined by Post Code regions as laid out in DA Constitution.
NEW CONSTITUTION ADOPTED 17.11.2002
